Why is my iris360 microSD card not being detected?

UPDATE:

We have recently discovered a possible incompatibility issue with Sandisk Ultra 32GB microSD cards. At this time we advise you do NOT use Sandisk Ultra 32GB microSD cards with iris360. Below is an image of the card:

Note: Lower capacity Sandisk Ultra cards do not appear to be affected.

There are a number of reasons why a microSD card may fail to be detected by your iris360 unit, but by far the most common reason is probably because at some point during usage the microSD card was removed while the unit was powered up.

Even though the LED Status Indicators on the top of the unit are showing Blue, the system could still be writing data to the microSD card.

Removal of the card while data is being written to it will almost always inevitably result in data corruption to the card which in turn will result in your iris360 unit failing to detect or be able to read/write to the card.

To prevent this happening:

  1. Always ensure you are running the latest firmware version on your iris360 unit: https://goo.gl/WwnIgX
  2. Never remove the microSD card while the unit is powered up
  3. Always power down the unit BEFORE removing the microSD card

If your card is not being detected by your iris360 unit:

  1. Power down your iris360 unit
  2. With the unit powered down, remove the microSD card from the unit
  3. Copy any data from the card to your computer
  4. Reformat the card using Fat32 as the file format
  5. Insert the card into the unit
  6. Power up the unit

The microSD card should now be detected by your iris360 unit.

Sometimes the MicroSD card can't be detected even though I do exactly as this instruction told me to. And I have to repeat power off and power on like 10 times that the card finally works. Really annoying.

Please raise a Support ticket and we'll investigate for you.

    Firmware 1.3.16
    App version 1.1.6 (Android)
    Serial: NCTIR1-8153437

I've been using the noted Sandisk Ultra 32GB microSD since I purchased the unit in May. After receiving my hardware updated unit back in September, the unit has been completely unusable due to reliability issues. Upon boot it would go to the RED LED lighting ring. Removing the SD card and re-inserting would cause the RED to go BLUE; but then the camera couldn't detect the card. I'll buy a new SD card (non-Sandisk) and try again. I would assume that Sandisk is such a market player that NCTech would verify their product works with these major brands / capacities. Thanks for the notification, I recommend making this 'bug' notification more prominent on the site though. I had to search for a few minutes to find this page.

All cards are supported, except for:

    1. Sandisk Ultra 32GB
    2. SDXC cards
    3. Anything other than Class 10, UHS 1

...and Samsung cards also cause potential conflict, usable but sporadically reliable like this SanDisk card. I'm assuming this recent alert applies to ALL SanDisk cards?

No, the recent alert applies to the Sandisk 32GB card as illustrated.
